Why Nursing?

Auburn is more than a university; it’s a hub for forward-thinking education, life-enhancing research, scholarship, and selfless service.

Making a gift to Auburn Nursing is ultimately an investment in the future of health care – one that helps you achieve your philanthropic goals while making a difference in the lives of our nursing students who will be future nurses, nurse educators, faculty, nurse practitioners, and nurse scientists.

Regardless of the type or amount of your gift, it demonstrates your belief in the power of and distinction of the Auburn Nursing degree. Together, we can transform lives and society.

By giving to Auburn's College of Nursing, you become a partner in the university’s land-grant mission to make a tangible difference in the education of our students and for generations of healthcare professionals to come.

Areas of Support

Facility

The university’s first facility specifically designed for nursing education allows students to learn, grow, and  provide the best nursing care for diverse populations in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Faculty

The number of students admitted to the professional nursing program is correlated to the number of clinical spaces and number of faculty. Gifts directed to faculty support help recruit and retain faculty.

Greatest Need

Gifts designated for this purpose will help supportstudent learning opportunities. It also will ensure academic programs and clinical experiences remain at the leading edge of nursing best practice.

Scholarship

A gift to the Scholarship Fund is life-changing. It is an investment in a nursing student’s education at Auburn, in their professional career, and in the healthcare teams of the future.

Mary F. Woody Society

Mary F. Woody

Named for nursing school’s first dean, Mary Florence Woody, the society creates a way for donors to honor her legacy and provide vital resources for Auburn nursing.

In 1979, the school was formed when Dean Woody recruited the first class of 27 juniors who were taught by five full-time faculty members.

Her leadership, values, and nursing administration skills led to the school’s full accreditation and the graduation of Auburn’s first nursing students in 1981.
