About the Program
The Master of Science in Nursing Program prepares nurses for advanced specialty practice with a degree as a primary care nurse practitioner or as a nurse educator. The MSN Program is primarily online, but is considered a hybrid program, as students are required to be on campus at specific times for intensives.
Auburn utilizes a variety of state-of-the-art online and distance learning technologies and techniques to facilitate the program and enrich the student learning experience.

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Education prepares registered nurses to become effective educators and leaders in academic and clinical settings. Designed for nurses with a passion for teaching and addressing the critical and growing shortage of nurse faculty, students will explore teaching and learning strategies, curriculum design, effective assessment, and quality program evaluation. The program prepares nurse educators to lead and adapt innovative educational methods to meet the needs of communities and populations.
The Master of Science in Nursing Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (MSN) Program at Auburn University College of Nursing prepares registered nurses for advanced specialty practice in roles aligned with national professional standards. Graduates are prepared to integrate advanced nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice to improve health outcomes across diverse populations and care settings. Graduates of this program are prepared to sit for the national Family Nurse Practitioner Certification.
The MSN NP Program is delivered primarily online and incorporates intentional on-campus intensives designed to support clinical skill development, competency assessment, and professional role formation. These experiences foster meaningful relationships between students, faculty, and peers while encouraging engagement with the Auburn University academic and professional community.
