Doctor of Nursing Practice
About The Program
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program a offers two pathways, BSN‑to‑DNP and MSN‑to‑DNP, leading to the terminal practice degree in nursing. Auburn’s DNP program prepares clinician‑scholars to lead the transformation of healthcare through evidence‑based practice innovation, systems leadership, and improved health outcomes across diverse populations. Graduates are equipped to translate scientific evidence into clinical practice, implement and evaluate quality and safety initiatives, influence health policy, and advance nursing practice within complex healthcare systems. Auburn DNP graduates are prepared to impact patients, communities, and health systems by advancing the values of excellence, service, and innovation that define Auburn nursing.
Auburn’s DNP Program is delivered primarily online and designated as a hybrid program, requiring students to participate in scheduled on‑campus intensives. These immersive sessions foster collaboration and engagement with Auburn faculty and peers. Auburn University leverages state‑of‑the‑art instructional technologies and distance‑learning strategies to support student success and enrich learning while maintaining strong connections to the campus community.

DNP Program
The DNP Program prepares nursing graduate students to assume leadership roles in system‑based initiatives that promote quality, safety, and excellence in nursing practice.
Your evidence‑based practice doctoral education will prepare you to address health disparities, improve population health outcomes, and apply scientific, theoretical, and ethical principles to high‑quality care across diverse populations. In addition, graduates are equipped to lead strategic initiatives in healthcare delivery by shaping organizational practices, driving system evaluation, and implementing evidence‑based improvements across a range of care settings.
The DNP Program offers two pathways, MSN‑DNP and BSN‑to‑DNP, with full‑time students admitted in the fall semester only. Students are required to be on campus each semester for intensives that include structured learning activities, assessments, and engagement with faculty. These sessions may extend up to one week.
Full‑time students in the MSN‑DNP pathway can complete their plan of study in six semesters, while full‑time students in the BSN‑DNP pathway can complete their plan of study in nine semesters.
To learn more about becoming a DNP prepared nurse, please contact Dr. Rachel Cody at rachel.cody@auburn.edu.
