Students in simulation training.

Eagles Center

The simulation suite occupies over 10,000 square feet in the Auburn University College of Nursing building. The state-of-the-art simulation suite includes rooms that mimic actual hospital, clinic, and community settings. The environment is made real by the availability of functioning patient monitors, hospital beds, IV pumps, etc. and a variety of disposable supplies. Each room is outfitted with audio-visual technology that allows sessions to be recorded and reviewed by participants to reflect on their performance.

Students engage in real-life scenarios where they provide care to simulated patients. Realistic simulators give nursing students the opportunity to participate in designed learning activities in a safe, controlled environment.

Prior to their entry into the simulation suite, students receive a pre-briefing that includes instructions about learning objectives, performance expectations, and patient-specific report. When they enter the suite, they assume the care of their patients in a given scenario—clinic, hospital or community setting. The experience is followed by a debriefing session with fellow students and instructors.

The simulation suite is home to our family of high-fidelity simulators in a variety of skin tones. Tetherless, high-fidelity simulators are used in designed learning activities within the EAGLES Center and throughout the College of Nursing to support student learning in a variety of settings. Learn more about the capabilities of each simulator below.
