Preparing nurses who understand the connection between the health of patients and communities is important for the overall promotion of community health. Dr. Martin is currently working on the project Active Community Engagement for Teaching Equity and Collaboration in Healthcare. By engaging nursing students in community-based health activities, nursing students learn more about the varying communities they serve while community members benefit from engagement with healthcare professionals.
