Pregnancy-related and pregnancy-associated deaths peak during the interconception period, yet this critical timeframe receives limited attention. Dr. Ware investigates the leading causes of maternal mortality between pregnancies, cardiovascular disease, mental health conditions, and other factors that disproportionately affect women during this vulnerable period. This research identifies targeted interventions to reduce maternal deaths and improve outcomes for women between pregnancies.
