Two Professional Development Opportunities in Simulation
Auburn University College of Nursing offers two professional development opportunities designed to strengthen expertise in healthcare simulation education.
The Simulation Modules provide eight self-paced, online learning experiences that introduce the foundational concepts of simulation-based teaching—ideal for busy nurse educators in academic or clinical settings.
Building on these fundamentals, the Post-Master’s Healthcare Simulation Graduate Certificate is a three-semester program that prepares graduates to lead simulation programs, apply best practice standards, and integrate evidence-based strategies into curriculum and instruction.
Together, these opportunities equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advance simulation excellence in healthcare education. Learn more about the Post-Master’s Healthcare Simulation Certificate.
Simulation Modules
Whether you are a nurse educator in an academic or practice setting, we know your time is precious, and we created simulation modules with that in mind. The eight self-paced modules in this professional development course are designed to introduce foundational concepts of simulation education to prepare you for your role as a simulation educator.

Course Goals
Upon conclusion of the course, you will be able to:
-
Outline the theoretical frameworks that support simulation design.
-
Utilize the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best PracticeTM when designing simulation scenarios.
-
Identify the essential elements for creating simulation objectives.
-
Evaluate technological factors and determine the suitable level of technology appropriate for your learners.
-
Identify the considerations for interprofessional education in simulation learning.
Post-Master’s Healthcare Simulation Graduate Certificate
The Auburn University College of Nursing Post-Master’s Healthcare Simulation Certificate curriculum prepares learners to apply evidence-based principles and best practices to lead simulation programs in academic or clinical settings. The three-semester program aims to provide the essential components of simulation as a teaching strategy for interdisciplinary healthcare educators.
