A recent gift from the Russell Medical Center Foundation to continue a longstanding partnership with Auburn University’s College of Nursing ensures children in Tallapoosa County and adjacent rural communities will continue to receive important health education programming. Auburn Nursing’s first-year summer cohort recently participated in one of two poverty simulations designed to introduce students to the circumstances of living in poverty, as well as inform future practice.

Once a month, Martin leads his students through “Tiger Tuesdays,” a full day of health promotion activities at Boykin. The mornings are spent working with senior citizens, and afternoons are for the children at the Boys & Girls Club.
