A recent gift from the Russell Medical Center Foundation to continue a longstanding partnership with Auburn University’s College of Nursing ensures children in Tallapoosa County and adjacent rural communities will continue to receive important health education programming. The Foundation’s investment of $120,000 over four years will allow AUCON to continue the TigerCHAT program, an academic health partnership that brings health education directly into rural elementary schools

Auburn University has again earned national recognition for academic excellence, securing several top rankings across its graduate online business, education, engineering and nursing programs in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs  rankings. One of the College of Nursing’s outreach initiatives is all grown up. Tiger Babies, the program established to support breastfeeding mothers at Auburn University events, turns ten years old this fall.

Auburn Nursing’s first-year summer cohort recently participated in one of two poverty simulations designed to introduce students to the circumstances of living in poverty, as well as inform future practice.

Once a month, Martin leads his students through “Tiger Tuesdays,” a full day of health promotion activities at Boykin. The mornings are spent working with senior citizens, and afternoons are for the children at the Boys & Girls Club.
