A conversation with Chris Martin, associate clinical professor, on his work as a Macy Faculty Scholar.

Alexandra Feemster, a native of Richmond, Va., holds both Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees from Auburn University College of Nursing (AUCON). Her decision to attend Auburn was influenced by her sister's experience at the university. “Her recommendation, along with the campus environment and appealing atmosphere, motivated me to pursue my education at Auburn,” said Feemster. An associate professor in the College of Nursing, Yordy is driven to study a wide range of health-related topics that include animal-assisted therapy, emotional and sensory regulation and interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities for school nurses.  

Once a month, Martin leads his students through “Tiger Tuesdays,” a full day of health promotion activities at Boykin. The mornings are spent working with senior citizens, and afternoons are for the children at the Boys & Girls Club.

On May 2, Nancy Harrelson will be recognized for completing Aspire Auburn’s Leading People program, a key part of the Supervisor Pathways Trailblazer initiative.

Chris Martin, a 2012 graduate of Auburn’s nursing program, returned to his alma mater as a faculty member in 2019. He began his nursing career as a staff RN on the coronary care unit at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. After a short stint working in the post anesthesia care unit, Martin completed his master’s degree in nursing from Samford University in 2015, with a focus in healthcare management and leadership.
